Overview

EZ-PD™ CMG2 is Infineon's dedicated electronically marked cable assembly (EMCA) controller targeting passive non-thunderbolt and thunderbolt Type-C cables. It offers integrated VBUS-CC short protection up to 54 V, VBUS-VCONN short protection up to 54 V, power delivery 3.1, Type-C 2.1, and ESD protection, all these in a compact 9-ball WLCSP package. EZ-PD™ CMG2 has a 47-byte storage space for vendor- and cable-specific configuration data.

EZ-PD™ CMG2‘s CC and VCONN are tolerant to high-voltage VBUS up to 54 V, providing a robust single-chip EMCA solution and thereby reducing the BOM cost.

EZ-PD™ CMG2 integrates ±8 kV contact discharge and ±15 kV air gap discharge based on IEC 61000-4-2 level 4C, offering high-level system reliability.

EZ-PD™ CMG2’s integrated 47-byte storage is configurable over a Type-C interface and allows the storage of vendor-, device-, and cable-specific configuration data. The fact that no firmware development is needed leads to a shorter development cycle.
