Overview

PROFET™ + 12V family is characterized by its high short-circuit robustness and drives currents from 0.5 A to 11 A. The whole PROFET™ + 12V high-side switch IC product family is pin-to-pin compatible within the family as well as with the PROFET™ + 24V family. These intelligent power devices (IPD) support resistive, capacitive and inductive loads with higher energy capability.

About PROFET™ + 12V high-side smart power switch

Infineon’s PROFET™ + 12V (PROtected FET) family consists of high-side smart power switches that provide state of the art diagnostic and protection features like 

  • very high short circuit and energy robustness 
  • protection against overload, overvoltage and short circuit
  • excessive temperature, loss of ground, power supply loss and Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) protection. 

In addition to the protection and diagnostic features, PROFET™ + 12V have further benefits like pin-compatibility of the PROFET™ + 12V family with the PROFET™ + 24V family and within each of the individual family devices.

About PROFET™ + 12V high-side smart power switch family

Infineon’s PROFET™ + 12V (PROtected FET) family consists of single, dual and 4-channel protected high-side power switches in DSO-8 and DSO-14 exposed pad package. With an RDS(ON) from 8 mΩ to 200 mΩ, they are capable to drive loads from 0.5 A up to 1 A. The automotive qualified high-side switches are well established in the market. This universial family is high short circuit robust and resistant against high energy from inductive loads. This intelligent power device is used for a lot of applications like motors, relay replacements, valves, heating elements and also loads with high input capacitance.

PROFET™ + 12V design support

Infineon offers a range of design-in materials, which include application notes, evaluation boards, PCB design data, simulation models, and also online simulations. Those materials can be found on each product page in the "Design Support" chapter. In addition, we offer a dedicated tool suite for Smart Power Switches and Gate Driver ICs for automotive power distribution.

Infineon Smart Power Switches and Gate Driver Tool Suite support system architects and hardware designers from idea to realization. This suite allows the user to select the right Smart Power Switch or Gate Driver IC for a specific load using one of the “Finder and Selection” tools. Together with different “Simulation and Modeling” tools, various application scenarios can be simulated for the product. The results can be documented in the report tool and verified with “Configuration” tools plus corresponding evaluation boards.
