About

Infineon’s CIPOS™ IPM family offers a series of end-to-end integrated power modules for applications spanning from 20 W to 5 kW, including low-power and major home appliances, as well as industrial drives. These modules incorporate nearly all semiconductor components needed to efficiently drive electronically controlled electric motors, including power transistors, diodes, gate driver ICs, and thermistors.

Designed for high power density and junction temperatures, CIPOS™ IPMs showcase Infineon’s cutting-edge CoolSiC™, TRENCHSTOP™ or reverse-conducting IGBTs, alongside next-generation silicon-on-insulator (SOI) gate drivers and state-of-the-art thermo-mechanical technologies. This results in improved system performance and ruggedness.

CIPOS™ IPMs are highly integrated, compact power modules designed to drive motors in a wide range of applications within the power range of 20 W to 5 kW. Applications include dishwashers, fans, air conditioning units, washing machines, refrigerators, air purifiers, HVAC, motor drives, and industrial drives.

A wide selection of modules enables optimum PCB design, size, and system costs. This simplifies the motor drive design, improves reliability, and lowers component count while significantly reducing the time to market.

The CIPOS™ IPM family offers a wide portfolio for power ranges between 20 W and 5 kW. Based on the voltage, size, and cost requirements of your application, you can choose between CIPOS™ Nano, CIPOS ™ Micro, CIPOS™ Mini, and CIPOS™ Maxi families.

  • CIPOS™ Nano: the smallest, cost-effective modules for applications with a voltage range between 40 V and 600 V
  • CIPOS™ Micro: compact package size with high efficiency and optimized for low power applications of 500 W or less
  • CIPOS™ Mini: designed for high power density, easy power extension, and power optimization for applications spanning a wide current range from 4 A to 30 A.
  • CIPOS™ Maxi: integrated with CoolSiC™ 1200 V or TRENCHSTOP™ IGBT4, and 1200 V rugged 6-channel SOI gate driver to provide the most compact packages and enhanced robustness in the IPM 1200 V class

The increased power efficiency achieved by utilizing CIPOS™ IPMs can decrease annual energy requirements by up to 24 billion kWh – this amounts to the annual power consumption of 7 million German households. It also reduces up to 14 million tons of CO2 a year, a significant amount that has a considerable environmental impact.
