About

PC accessories typically refer to any device added to a computer that provides additional capabilities or features and as such, includes products such as HID devices (mice, keyboards, remotes), docking stations and monitors, headsets, webcams, and more.

With over 400 million units shipped annually, PC accessories have become ubiquitous in the computing experience – modern or historical.

Despite their widespread proliferation, PC accessories still contend with innovation and differentiation while meeting challenging design cycles. Whether this is incorporating presence-based experiences, or supporting the latest in USB Type-C Power Delivery specifications; protecting your brand with security and authentication, or identifying a low-latency Bluetooth® LE solution for your next gaming keyboard – Infineon has the portfolio and experience to be your partner of choice for today's and tomorrow's computing experience.

With nearly two decades of wireless HID experience, Infineon is your partner of choice to help you ditch the dongle.  Through close collaboration with Intel, Infineon’s CYW20829 Bluetooth® LE 5.4 SoC is the only chipset engineered for Intel Evo Certified at the chipset and SDK level – delivering best-in-class direct to host connections.

Looking for something a little bit faster? The CYW20829 is also Ultra-Low Latency HID ready - adopting the latest Bluetooth® specification developed in conjunction with the HID Working Group and delivering 1 millisecond standardized latency.

For more rigorous needs, such as those required by end customers in banking and government, Infineon has a leading IoT-class AIROC Wi-Fi 6/6E portfolio with extensive cloud agnostic infrastructure, WPA3 enterprise security, and edge telemetry.

Modern PC & Gaming Accessories are leveraging increased sensor content like never before to provide context-aware, smarter, and frictionless user experiences.

Today, Infineon’s industry leading CAPSENSE™ is being used to support proximity and presence detection in HID devices, on/off detection & in-ear detection for headphones and TWS, and of course the fundamentals such as touchpads, touch slides, and touch multimedia keys.

With recent investments in consumer-focused magnetic sensors, Infineon can help address deadzone and drift seen in potentiometer-based joysticks, deploy high-performance keyboards with adjustable actuation points, or gaming controllers with ultra-fast trigger responsiveness.

Modern docking stations contend with complex power requirements due to a growing number of USB Type-C ports, increased power delivery requirements, and miniaturization and integration. In addition, there are dozens of chipsets from ESD diodes on the USB 5 Gbps lines to full dock management controllers – all these things have to work with each other.

Infineon’s extensive, end-to-end portfolio of industry-leading solutions including silicon, silicon carbide, and GaN offerings help meet your specific needs. We offer proven expertise in the market with more than one billion USB Type-C devices shipped. Our solutions also provide:

  • Dock management controllers providing total system management capabilities
  • Highly integrated power delivery solutions with integrated buck/boost controllers
  • USB-IF certified hub controllers
  • FETs and ESD diodes for USB-Type C, USB-A, HDMI, and display ports

Consumers today expect the latest and greatest in PC peripherals, which makes the short design cycles and the need for differentiated features in PC accessories challenging. To solve these problems, designers and engineers need fast, easy to implement solutions that help speed up the design cycle.

That's why Infineon worked with ITON to create turnkey mice and keyboard designs based on the AIROC™ CYW20829 Bluetooth® LE 5.4 SoC and PSOC™4000T CAPSENSE™ MCU to help speed up your time to market. These turnkey designs offer Engineered for Intel Evo support, CAPSENSE™-based proximity and presence detection with dynamic backlight control and outperform leading devices in market in terms of RF performance and battery life.  Better yet, they support the emerging Cyber Resiliency Act (CRA) and Radio Equipment Directive (RED) security standards – mandatory for shipping wireless devices into Europe.

The solutions are fully encased in traditional form factors with open-source code available on GitHub, are compatible with Windows, iOS, and Android, and support other mainstream features such as multiple-host switch support and secure OTA update capability.
