About

Experience full design flexibility with our complete product portfolio of solutions for broadcasting applications. Our devices stand for performance, robustness, reliability, and smallest footprint that help you take your designs to the next level.

Digital audio broadcasting (DAB) is a broadcasting standard that is widely present in infotainment equipment in cars and at home. By operating in the VHF band (47 MHz to 240 MHz) and the L band (1452 MHz to 1492 MHz), DAB enables high-quality digital audio broadcasting.

FM (frequency modulation) radio is an established and widely available broadcasting technology. FM-radio-enabled active antennas are commonly found in a variety of devices, including mobile phones, PDAs, portable FM radios, and other consumer electronics. There is a clear market trend towards using FM radio without a headset cable, which requires the antenna to be integrated into the device. However, space constraints on the antenna design lead to shrinking antennas, which in turn induce high losses into the system and lower the receiver's sensitivity.

A low-noise amplifier (LNA) for FM radio applications offers a solution to the antenna challenge. By providing better impedance matching between the FM antenna and the FM receiver, the LNA solves the problem of the short FM antenna in mobile phones. As a result, the system signal-to-noise ratio is maintained at a level comparable to that achieved with a headset.

SDARS is digitally encoded satellite radio broadcasting in the S-band operating from 2320-2332.5 MHz and 2332.5-2345 MHz. SDARS provides paying subscribers with over 200 channels of MP3-quality or HD digital radio.

Infineon’s low-noise bipolar silicon (Si) and silicon germanium: carbon (SiGe:C) transistors for satellite digital audio radio service (SDARS) active antenna low noise amplifiers (LNAs).
Our reliable RF transistors offer exceptionally low noise figure (NF), high gain, and high linearity at minimum power consumption levels. Their optimized inner transistor cell structures lead to best-in-class power gain and NF at SDARS operating frequency.

Today, mobile devices and smartphones deliver entertainment features in addition to wireless functions for voice and data. Of these entertainment features, portable or mobile TV is one of the most exciting, since it brings live news and entertainment programs directly to the mobile device or smartphone, enabling the user to stay informed and watch their favorite programs whenever and wherever they want to.

Infineon's product portfolio for mobile TV reception applications boasts of features including low noise figure, high and stable gain, and high linearity. Our portfolio includes RF MMIC LNAs such as BGA729N6, which is especially designed for mobile TV reception with 50-ohm interfaces, while our RF CMOS switches with <500 ns switching speed like BGS13SN8 offer cost-effective solutions to improve the signal-to-noise ratio and therefore the quality of TV reception. What's more, our ESD protection diodes ensure improved ESD protection performance up to 8 kV contact discharge, and therefore is compliant with IEC61000-4-2. And Infineon RF switch series can be used to switch between the mobile TV tuner IC and the FM tuner IC.
